Two soldiers have been martyred and three others were injured in a landmine blast near the Line of Control in the Nowshera-Sunderbani sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday evening. According to a news report, an officer and a soldier lost their lives after they stepped on to a landmine during the patrolling near Line of Control.

The injured personnel have been shifted to the Army hospital under critical condition.
“There have been two fatal casualties. Three others are injured,” a senior police officer said.
“During an area domination patrol in Naushera sector, a mine blast occurred, wherein, two Indian Army soldiers suffered critical injuries and later succumbed to their injuries. Another soldier who received injuries was evacuated and is under treatment,” a defence spokesperson in Jammu region said.
“Lieutenant Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit were brave and extremely committed to the profession of soldiering and have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in the line of active duty. Lieutenant Rishi Kumar was a resident of Begusarai in Bihar. Sepoy Manjit Singh was a resident of Sirvewala, Bhatinda, Punjab. The nation and Indian Army shall forever remain indebted to the brave hearts for their supreme sacrifice,” the spokesperson said.
The Army has been vigilant in the region for last three weeks as they are looking for terrorists hiding in the area.
