Traffic on Thursday was suspended on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, as a precautionary measure.
Traffic Control Unit (TCU) official Ramban told some media agency that no traffic was allowed on the Srinagar-Jammu highway is due to restrictions in the valley.
Vehicles which had left Jammu this morning for Srinagar have been stopped at different places on the highway, including Banihal and Ramban, he said.
Similarly, no vehicle is coming from Kashmir valley, the official said.
However, a traffic official in Srinagar told that highway is open for traffic. However, he said due to restrictions in districts, vehicles are not plying.
The authorities had imposed restrictions to prevent any law and order problem following the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Wednesday night at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar outskirts,
