Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Tuesday that it is possible to convince the people of Uttar Pradesh and win 400 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections here if all come together to defeat the ruling BJP.
The Special Investigation Team probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence has said that the incident was as per a “pre-planned conspiracy” which led to the death of 5 people and left several injured. The Opposition leaders, meanwhile, held a march from Parliament to Vijay Chowk demanding the government to revoke the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha MPs. “This (suspension of 12 MPs) is a symbol of the crushing of the voice of the people of India. Their voices have been crushed. They have done nothing wrong. We are not allowed to discuss important issues in Parliaments,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said.
The Rajya Sabha was earlier adjourned till 2 pm amid ruckus created by the Opposition members demanding the suspension of 12 MPs of the Upper House. “Let’s maintain decency & decorum in the House. Unruly & unparliamentary behavior is not going to work at all,” Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said warning the Opposition MPs.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar earlier said that the Srinagar terror attack was planned by two foreign terrorists and one local terrorist. Three police personnel have lost their lives in this attack. One terrorist who managed to flee will be caught and the group will be neutralised soon, the IGP said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting at the BLW Guest House in Varanasi, apparently to discuss the 2022 state Assembly elections. The participants of the meeting included BJP President JP Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, state in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and state party President Swatantra Dev Singh.
BSP chief Mayawati has said that her party’s alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will come to power in Punjab with the full majority in the next Assembly elections, under the leadership of Sukhbir Singh Badal. The BSP supremo also said that inaugurations and announcements of new projects won’t help BJP in upcoming polls.
