An octogenarian lady has been allegedly killed by her non-local servant in Behrar Colony Lal Bazar here and decamped with cash and jewelry.
According to reports, the incident came to light when the victim’s family approached the police and filed an FIR against the accused. Reports said a non-local servant has attacked the lady with a knife and ran away from the scene when the lady was alone at her home.
The deceased woman has been identified as Mall Puffy (85) wife of Late Ghulam Ahmad Shiekh resident of Behrar Colony Lal Bazar, Srinagar.As per the relatives of the deceased woman, they were out of home and while returning the home they found her dead in her home.
A senior police officer told that the crime was committed around 03:00 pm on Thursday. However, the non-local servant identified as Om Prakash Sah (21), son of Gopal Sah of village Tatuli Gorman, Uttarakhand was working as a servant at their home for the last couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, Station House Officer (SHO) Lal-Bazar while confirming the incident said, “Soon after the incident reported a manhunt was launched to track down the accused”. He said after executing human and technical inputs the accused was apprehended on the Srinagar – Jammu highway.
The SHO also said that the stolen jewelry was also recovered from the possession of accused. “The prima-facie suggested the accused has committed the crime however all things will be cleared out after thorough investigation into the matter”, the SHO said.
