Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday inspected the COVId-19 testing facilities at Srinagar International Airport.
Mr Mandviya also visited north Kashmir district of Baramulla, where he inaugurated several facilities for patients.
He directed officials to ensure all facilities for smooth and efficient testing are available for people.
The minister later inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra, CT Scan Machine and other facilities at the Sub District Hospital Sopore, in Baramulla district. This, he said, will enhance public health services in the region.
Mr Mandaviya, who arrived here on a two-day visit in connection with Centre’s outreach programme, also participated in a tree-plantation drive at the hospital.
A number of issues were raised by hospital staff and local politicians with the minister.
However, talking to reporters Mandaviya said government will provide all necessary equipment’s and medicines so that people dod not suffer any more.
Enough quantity of medicines will be made avaiable to patients in general stores in the hospitals on cheap rates. One of the store was inaugurated today. He said patient care will be further strengthen in all hospital, including in far flung and remote areas.
President Municipal Council (MC) Sopore Masrat Kar raised some issues about health care available in Sopore with Mandaviya. She demanded upgradation of Sub District Hospital (SDH) to District hospital. She demanded that construction of new hospital building should be completed early.
The MC President also demanded a fully functional new operation theater which has not been made functional so far.
She highlighted that the elevator that has been installed in the new building be made functional for the convenience of the patients and their attendants. She also raised the issue of central heating system in the new hospital building.
The minister also Visited Government Medical College (GMC) hospital Baramulla, where he inaugurated a 50-bedded portable health care unit to enhance medical facilities in remote areas. he also inaugurated an exhibition on New Medical Colleges.
