Jammu and Kashmir police in Mendhar sub division of Poonch district arrested a narcotic peddler and recovered a consignment of Charas like substance from his possession.
Peddler have been identified as Mohammad Kafeel Khan son of Mohammad Itfaq Khan resident of Pathanateer in Mendhar.
Police in an official statement said that a team of police station Mendhar under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar Zaheer Abbas Jafri was on routine MVCP Naka duty at Ari link road when a tata sumo bearing registration No.JK02AF/2216 moving towards naka turned suspicious as driver of the vehicle tried to evade police check.
On this suspicion, police team succeeded in interception of suspect vehicle driver and on his frisking, a consignment of Charas like substance weighing 1600 grams was recovered after which the accused has been arrested from the spot.
Police said that a case FIR No.353/2021 under section 8/20 of NDPS Act has been registered in police station Mendhar with further investigation into the matter is going on.
