Jammu: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu working under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu today started a 15-day certificate course on “Integrated Nutrient Management (INM)” for Input dealers.
Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, was the chief guest at this occasion while, Prof. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu; B. K. Chandan, Director Law Enforcement UT of J&K and Bahadur Ram, IFFCO Area Marketing Manager, Jammu were Guests of Honor.
Arvind Baru, Chief agriculture Officer, Jammu, Roshan Lal, Assistant Director law and enforcement, Jammu and other officers of line departments also attended the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Jagdish Prasaad Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu briefed that Agri-input dealers in the country are a prime source of farm information to the farming community, besides the supply of inputs and credit. He also stressed Post Production Agriculture, Processing, Value addition, marketing and branding of the produce of the farmer for making the agriculture more profitable. He also advised KVK Jammu to encourage farmers to promote one village Eco tourism in their respective areas.
Prof. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu appreciated the efforts of KVK Jammu in conducting this certificate course on INM for new input dealers. B. K. Chandan, Director Law Enforcement, UT of J&K, appreciated the role of KVK Jammu in conducting this course, which will ensure that input dealers have the knowledge regarding the various types of fertilizers and their recommended dose in various crops.
Bahadur Ram, IFFCO Area Marketing Manager, Jammu, in his address, suggested the addition of some practical work related to the maintenance of the stock register, DBT by Input dealers and their interaction with the existing dealers. At the outset Dr. Punit Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcomed the dignitaries and participants in the programme He also apprised that the participants from three districts of Division Jammu are participating in this programme.
Arvind Baru, Chief agriculture Officer, Jammu praised the KVK Jammu for organizing this certificate course for the farmers and for educating the new trainees regarding the nano and biofertilizers in the farmer’s field. Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, Scientist Plant Protection, KVK Jammu gave a brief description and outline of the course and farmers and elaborated upon the objective of conducting this certificate course.
Dr. Ravneet Kour, Scientist Horticulture, Dr. Prem Kumar, Scientist Fisheries, Dr. Amitesh Sharma, Scientist Plant Breeding also shared their experiences during interaction with the participants. Dr. Raju Gupta, Er. Ashish Katoch, S. Satbir Singh and Sumeer Raina also helped in the smooth conductance of the Programme. The Programme concluded by vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Prem Kumar, Scientist fisheries, KVK Jammu.
