The Jal Shakti daily wagers and casual labourers on Monday held a protest demonstration in support of their demands, including the release of pending wages and removal of alleged incumbent Chief Engineer (CE), Kashmir division.
Large number of daily wagers and casual labourers from different divisions assembled at Chief Engineers office raising slogans against him (CE) for failing to release their wages beside utilize the funds sanctioned by the centre for improvement of water supply in the valley.
The protestors also alleged misuse his official position to suppress the employees. Despite court orders besides funds released by the government for paying wages to daily wagers and daily labourers, CE refused to do justice with them.
The protesting employees appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and ensure the demands of the employees will be resolved.
Speaking to reporters chairman Kashmir Jal Shakti Joint Employees Association Sajad Ahmad Parray said several centrally sponsored schemes meant to ensure drinking water supply to the general public have not been commissioned due to no interest shown by the Chief Engineer.
