A 60-year-old man died after falling from a walnut tree in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Thursday.
This is the third such incident in less than a fortnight in the valley, where workers have died after falling from trees during this walnut harvesting season.
Official sources said that one Mohammad Akram Dar, who was on a tree collecting walnuts, slipped and fell on the ground at Tral on Thursday.
“Dar was immediately taken to Sub District Hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” they said.
They said after completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites.
“Police has registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident,” they added.
On September 14, a man died after falling from a walnut tree in the border town of Uri in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Similarly, another man died after falling from a walnut tree in Pulwama on September 5.
