The Minister said that the airport worth Rs. 1500 crore would be built on 25,000 square metres in Kashmir, while another worth Rs. 650 crore will be built on 22,000 square metres in Jammu. He further said that since a special emphasis is being placed on the development of both air and road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, a major road network, comprising highways, ring roads, tunnels, and other projects, is being built throughout the state.
The improved connectivity will bring more tourists to J&K and encourage local crafts. By promoting tourism and crafts, it will increase economic activity and prosperity in J&K.
The Minister stated that an era of peace, growth, and development has already begun in Jammu and Kashmir under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, and that all three areas, including Ladakh, are on track to become the country’s leader in construction and development. He stated that his ministry and the UT Government are trying to increase the maximum number of flight operations to meet the UT’s rising tourism, economic, and development aspirations.
The Central and UT Governments have not only been successful in curbing corruption in J&K but also bringing unprecedented development in all sectors including health, education, and infrastructure, he added. Meanwhile, various announcements have been made to boost the aviation infrastructure in the J&K Union Territory, following detailed deliberations between Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Jyotiraditya Scindia.
International flight between Srinagar – Sharjah
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said the Union Minister and J&K government have agreed to start the first international flight between Srinagar – Sharjah, putting an end to the UT’s long-standing desire for direct international connectivity.

Employment to 4.5 lakh youth in J&K:
With the approval of the Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development by PM Modi in J&K, the youth of the valley will be holding onto a brighter future with secure jobs.
The project intends to transform J&K’s industrial ecosystem and speed up socioeconomic growth by focusing on job creation and skill development. This will be accomplished through attracting new investments and sustaining those that already exist. It is expected to bring in unprecedented investment and provide direct and indirect employment to around 4.5 lakh people. In addition, the scheme will provide indirect support to some 35,000 people.
Super-75 scholarship scheme for meritorious girls:
The Super-75 scholarship programme was launched to help young girls in Kashmir to realise their dreams. The initiative intends to promote the education for girls from low-income families so that they can excel in fields such as medical, engineering, ITI, and various others so that they can also contribute to the nation’s development.
Khelo India: the new dawn of sports in the valley
Recently, in order to promote sports in J&K, the second edition of Khelo India was held in Gulmarg. PM Modi said that these games in Gulmarg demonstrate that J&K is eager to reach new heights of peace & development. These games will help in strengthening the objective of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”.
