The Ladakh administration has abolished the requirement of Urdu as a qualification for restoration to various posts in the revenue department. Bjp MP from Ladakh Jamyang Sering Namgyal has informed in this regard. He has termed the abolition of urdu mandatory as true freedom after the withdrawal of Section 370. The BJP MP has thanked PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Radhakrishna Mathur for the same.
Namgyal said, “A notice issued by the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh has been issued stating that Urdu will not be mandatory in all patwari and naib tehsildar posts recruited in the revenue department after the 7th. ‘
The BJP MP said that now if you have graduated from any recognized university, you will be able to apply for a job. He said, “I think we have taken a reformstep after Ladakh was declared a separate Union Territory. For those who do not know Urdu, that is, for the whole of Ladakh, this policy was biased, because Urdu is not the mother tongue of any resident of Ladakh, no community, any tribe. Therefore, the first step has been taken by the Revenue Department to ensure that the functioning here is normal, friendly, reach out to the people.
I thank India’s PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Radhakrishna Mathur for this first step. This has made the entire people of Ladakh happy. I expected this to give Ladakh an opportunity to make its mark and to raise it. ‘
As per the notification issued by Principal Secretary Dr Pawan Kotwal, ‘Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University’ has been made mandatory instead of ‘Knowledge of Urdu’. Tell me, Leh and Kargil are two districts in Ladakh.
Urdu language has been used in land and revenue records. In courts (lower courts) and even in police stations, FIR are also written in Urdu. Urdu is the medium of education imparted in government schools, especially in Muslim dominated areas of Kashmir, Kargil and Jammu.
