Meethe Chawal a delicious rice and as it is popularly known in Northern States of India. Yellow color that signifies vitality, strength, sunlight and happiness is the color of Meethe chawal.

Jammu people always prepared either Meethe Chawal during this special day. The taste gradually develops and that’s why people like it. When they add Desi-ghee with rice and dry fruits the taste is on another level! This meethe chawal has its own unique taste. And when you taste the sweet Rice, that’s totally magical. People specially cooked this food in winters.

firstly, we added with lots of desi ghee and cooked the nuts and roasted to golden brown on low flame and real flavour of the dish comes from the whole spices(green cardamom, cloves, bay leaf, cinnamon, black peppercorns, saffron) then add rice to water as required to cook, mix nicely.

Cover and keep the rice on medium flame and cook till the rice becomes soft and grains appear long and separated. Take off the flame and keep covered for few minutes.
