Principal Secretary to Govt. Irrigation and Flood Control Department convened a meeting to review the status of De-silting of Minor and Sub-Minor Canals under convergence mode with MGNREGA which was attended by Sh. Hamesh Manchanda Chief Engineer, I&FC/RTIC Jammu, Sh. Ajay Gupta, Superintending Engineer (RTIC), Sh. Sumit Puri, Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle, Jammu, Sh. Sanjeev Malhotra, Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle, Kathua, Tarsaim Kumar Joint Director (E&S) and other senior officers from the Rural Development Department, Jammu.
Principal Secretary issued directions to the concerned officers that the De-silting of Minor and Sub-Minor Canals should be completed within the given timelines so that the water may be released in these Minor Canals.
Besides, the Departments viz., RDD and I&FC should work in close coordination to get the work of De-silting completed and resolve the issues thereof, if any, at an earliest.
It was also directed by the Principal Secretary that all the concerned officers will have the field visits of all these Minor Canals to ensure the proper De-silting of these Canals.
All the concerned Superintending Engineers and Assistant Executive Engineers will have continuous liaison with the Assistant Commissioner Development and Block Development Officers respectively to ensure that the work of De-silting may be completed well before the time without any delay.
Further, directions were also issued to Chief Engineer, I&FC/RTIC Jammu that the Plan of De-silting of Minor and Sub-Minor Canals under Convergence mode for the year 2022-23 may be submitted to the Rural Development Department by the month of October/November, 2022 so that the process of De-silting of Minor Sub-Canals may not get not get delayed in future.
