From Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari, India is all decked up to celebrate the auspicious festival of Diwali on Thursday. As the country is set to celebrate Diwali with light and diyas, the use of firecrackers has been banned in most parts of the country, owing to the rise of air pollution.
Meanwhile, people in Ayodhya, where the famous Ram Temple is situated, has started preparations ahead of the festival. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already sent offerings (bhog) and diyas (earthen lamps) to every Mathas and temple in the town.
Yogi Adityanath reportedly announced that 9 lakh diyas would be lit as part of Deepotsava in Ayodhya. Also, the fifth edition of the Deepotsav will feature tableaux based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, sand art and dancers.
Amid the emphasis on “Vocal for Local”, people have been urged to buy products, clothes and other household items from their local store.
