Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri will meet Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates, and Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, Minister of Industry, Advanced Technology and Managing Director and Group CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) during his official visit to the UAE from 15 – 17 November, 2021.
The Minister of Petroleum will hold meetings to discuss issues of energy cooperation within the overall framework of the India-UAE strategic partnership alongside the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).
Hosted by ADNOC, the exhibition and conference is one of the world’s largest and an influential oil and gas event, which will provide Indian companies an opportunity for showcasing their success stories across the industry’s value chain.
Puri is leading a business delegation to the UAE and will participate in the inaugural ceremony of ADIPEC as well as in a ministerial roundtable on charting the climate action path from ‘COP 26 to COP 27’.
The Minister’s meetings assume importance against a backdrop of rising fuel prices in India and the country’s growing energy demand. Indian companies have steadily increased their presence in the UAE’s energy sector with a consortium of two Indian oil companies being awarded exploration rights in March 2019 for an onshore block in Abu Dhabi.
This followed the award in February 2018 of a 10 per cent participating interest in Abu Dhabi’s offshore Lower Zakum Concession to an Indian consortium of three companies.
Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Ahmed Al Jaber has assured India of UAE’s intent to invest across its energy supply chain to remain a reliable energy provider to India and the world at a recent conference on energy forum organized by CERAWeek.
Puri will inaugurate the India Pavilion, set up jointly by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons and Confederation of Indian Industry, give a keynote address during a roadshow on investment opportunities in the exploration and production sector in India.
The roadshow will be conducted by DGH to attract foreign investment by global oil and gas majors.
