The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had a spectacular performance this time as it won the elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. This victory is also setting the tone for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, where the saffron party aims to form the central government for a third consecutive time.
After the declaration of results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed BJP workers at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi. Describing the win as a “jeet ka chauka” (boundary of wins), Modi said the results showed people’s support for the party’s pro-poor and pro-active governance.
Here is a look at the top 10 quotes of the Prime Minister:
“BJP’s vote share has increased in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and Goa, even after being incumbent. All exit polls were proven incorrect in Goa, and the people of Goa have given us the chance to serve them for the third consecutive time,” PM Modi said while addressing party workers.
“The (four) state results strongly vindicate BJP’s pro-poor and pro-active governance. Earlier, people could not reach governments for basic amenities such as electricity, gas and water. Now we are delivering the poor their rights,” he said.
“BJP karyakartas had promised me that Holi would begin from 10th March this year, and they have kept their promise. These workers worked 24X7 and were successful in winning the trust of the people across states,” Modi said.
As the BJP won Uttarakhand for a second consecutive time, Modi said that the party created a new history in the hill state.
With the most important victory of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi hailed chief minister Yogi Adityanath by saying that it was the first time that a CM completed a five-year term and got re-elected.
Mentioning about the women voters, Modi said that the BJP registered massive wins in places where they (women voters) outnumbered male voters.
“I’m happy that first-time voters participated in the elections and ensured BJP’s victories,” the Prime Minister said.
“The election results reflect the mood of the nation towards our commitment to the nation for the next 25 years,” he added.
The Prime Minister also slammed opposition parties and their “ecosystem” for the “conspiracy” to stop action being taken against the corrupts and said that the parties shield the corrupt by “defaming the independent investigating agencies”.
“After the 2019 polls, some political pundits had said that the 2017 poll results had decided the 2019 outcome. I think they will say that the 2022 poll verdict decided the outcome of 2024 elections,” Modi said.
