The three districts of Kashmir Valley, Bandipora, Kupwara and Ganderbal have become militancy free. With this, two terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed have no commander left. The commander of these organizations has been killed by the security forces in an encounter. This claim has been made by ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
He told that there are 13 districts in Kashmir from the point of view of police. There are 81 terrorists active in these districts, out of which 29 are local and 52 are Pakistani. Farooq Nalli of Hizbul Mujahideen is the only active commander left who has been active since 2015. He is on the radar of police and other security forces. Till two years ago there were 80 commanders, now there are three. Except Nalli, the other two are not active.
Work is being done with the aim of bringing down the number of terrorists below 50 in the near future. Expressed confidence that in the next two years, we would be able to eradicate terrorism from Kashmir.
The ADGP said that most of the hybrid terrorists are active in Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag districts of South Kashmir. There is a module of terrorists operating in Kashmir who get instructions to strike. So far this year, 119 such modules have been busted. Their soft targets are laborers from outside states and Kashmiri Pandits. The police have also identified some women overground workers who have helped in recent terror incidents. Efforts are made to eliminate the attacking terrorists immediately after the incident.
Turkish pistols reached the terroristsHe said that recently Turkish pistols have been recovered from the terrorists, which is a matter of concern. This indicates that the Pakistani handler is providing Turkish pistols to the terrorists. There is also a section of terrorists who have taken up terror, but have not carried out any terrorist incident till now. In 80 per cent of such cases, the family informs the police about his suspicious activities and the police succeed in bringing them into the mainstream. So far this year, 13 such have been successful in bringing them back to the mainstream.
