The teams of SDRF, Navy, Handwara police, PRIs and Civil Administration on Friday retrieved the body of a 32-year-old man from river Pohru in Heripora Village of Langate a day after he drowned in the water body. The rescue operation was launched Thursday morning after Farooq Ahmad Rather, Son in the law of Ghulam Ahmad Rather reportedly drowned in the river while making ablution. A police officer report that soon after receiving information about the mishap, a team of SDRF assisted by, Police and civilians launched an operation to trace the 38-year-old man. However with no success made for the day, the operation was suspended for the night and resumed this morning, the official said. The body of the man was finally found this afternoon after hours of hectic searches in the water body, he added. A police official, Khurshid Ahmad confirming the recovery of the man told Rising Kashmir that the body has been handed over to the family after the conduct of necessary medico-legal formalities. Meanwhile, Local BDC Chairman Khurshid Ahmad Pandith hailed police, NAVY, PRIs, Civil and residents for carrying the searches continue to trace the drowned person.
