India on Saturday recorded a marginal dip in the daily infections as it reported 3,962 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data by the Union ministry of health and family welfare. Witht his the overall caseload stands at 4,31,72,547, it also said.
The number of active cases is increased by 1,239 in 24 hours to reach 22,416. The active cases now constitute 0.05 per cent of the total infections, the ministry also said.
The death toll saw a jump of 26 – six were recorded in the last 24 hours and 20 reconciled by Kerala. The toll now stands at 524,677.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.89 per cent, while the weekly figure was 0.77 per cent, according to the health ministry. The case fatality rate was recorded at 1.22 per cent.
The nationwide recovery rate is at 98.73 per cent, while the fatality rate was recorded at 1.22 per cent. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease rose to 4,26,25,454 – 2,697 in the last 24 hours, as per the data.
After over two months of respite, the national coronavirus tally is seeing a fresh surge, mostly fuelled by pockets of outbreak in the country’s large urban centres.
On Friday, the Centre directed five states — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra — to keep monitoring the infections trends and take pompt steps accordingly.
