In fresh spurt in COVID positive cases in the Union Territory of Ladakh, 27 persons including 20 students of a school today tested positive for pathogen while Jammu and Kashmir also reported 165 new cases, the majority of 156 in Kashmir division while Jammu recorded only nine positives.
Twenty students of The Tibetan SOS Children’s Village School at Choglamsar in Leh district today tested positive for COVID-19. They were among a total of 27 fresh positive cases registered in Ladakh, all in Leh district.
Kargil district didn’t report any fresh positive cases.
Students who tested positive for the virus have been isolated. Their contact tracing is on and all students and staff members will also be subjected to testing.
Prior to this, nearly 50 students and staff members of another school in Leh had tested COVID positive prompting the administration to shut educational institutions for a fortnight.
With 27 positive cases, the number of active positive cases in the UT of Ladakh has gone up to 114—110 in Leh and four in Kargil district.
COVID death toll in Ladakh stood at 209 including 151 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
