All non-teaching employees of SMVDU continued their protst before the gate of administration Block. And demanded justice and urged the LG to intervene and safeguard the interests of employees of SMVDU. As both VC and Registrar SMVDU are showing dictatorship and in order to listen to the employees they have called the Police to shut the voice of peaceful demonstration.
Agitated over abrupt termination of a female colleague after 10 years of service without any reason, non-teaching employees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University today held a day-long protest against the alleged dictatorial attitude of the university administration.
The protesting employees staged a sit-in on the campus and raised slogans against the Vice-Chancellor as well as Registrar of the university. They were demanding withdrawal of the termination order.
As no one from the university administration approached the agitating employees to listen to their grievance, the dharna continued till evening with an announcement to continue the protest till their demand is conceded.
To avoid any untoward incident on the campus, the unive
rsity administration also called Police from PP Kakryal even as there was no use of force against the protesting employees.
Pertinent to mention that a Lab Assistant in the School of Physics, SMVDU was yesterday abruptly terminated from the job contract without assigning any reason for the same. She was in service for the last ten years.
The protesting employees alleged that abrupt termination of job was a sheer violation of the Section 4 (iv)(d) of Chapter 38 of the University Statutes. They accused the university administration of resorting to dictatorial attitude and harassing the non-teaching employees.
The day-long protest dharna continued till the evening and the employees leaders announced to continue the agitation till the university administration withdraws termination order.
The protesting employees also appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter and ensure justice with them.
