KULGAM: Continuing its drive against persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police on Tuesday arrested five persons and seized five vehicles in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. A Police spokesperson said, “The Police party led by DySP HQRS Kulgam along with SHO Police station Kulgam under the close supervision of SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS during patrolling at Matalhama, Kulgam arrested five persons (Drivers). The arrested persons have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh S/O Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh R/O Sumarbugh, Lasian, Sameer Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Muhammad Dar R/O Zanipora, Pampora, Fayaz Ahmad Reshi S/O Nazir Ahmad Reshi R/O Lethpora, Pulwama, Bilal Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Nabi Dar R/O Lethpora, Pulwama and Javid Ahmad Dar S/O Mohd Sultan Dar R/O Lethpora, Pulwama and Police have seized five vehicles (Dumpers) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. In this regard, a case FIR No. 04/2024 under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Kulgam and investigation has been taken up.
