A total of 14 men were seen on the roads of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh performing stunts on ‘three bikes’ and a video of the same went viral on social media on Tuesday. Police said they have initiated action against the incident after receiving the information and that the bikes were seized, news agency reported.
In the Deorania Police Station area of the Bareilly district, all 14 men were seen as six people on one bike and four people on each of the other two, and they were not using safety helmets. The men were seen posing for photos while standing on their bikes. “The bikes were seized once the information was received. Action is being taken,” police said according to news agency.
Even after the Central Government amended the Motor Vehicles act in 2019, making the law for such dangerous acts more stringent, incidents of performing stunts, driving without safety measures, and driving with many pillion riders are not rare.
According to the Motor Vehicles Act of 2019, if the vehicle is overloaded with passengers, a fine of ₹1,000 per extra passenger will be levied. In addition, if no helmet is worn, passengers will be fined ₹1,000 and their driving licence will be suspended for three months.
In a recent incident in UP, two men were seen standing from inside a moving car while filming a video. Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, shared this video and asked, “Who are these bravehearts who are protecting the public on the highway by lighting the police siren-red beacon by hanging from the vehicle with the police sticker?” She tagged UP Police. Along with the stunt car, the video shows a police siren vehicle on the road.
In May last year, a 21-year-old man in Noida performed a bike stunt, balancing himself between two moving SUVs and performing acts such as a ‘wheelie’ on his two-wheeler. He was later arrested and two of his friends were also arrested for filming the act. The stunts were posted on the man’s social media accounts. In another incident that happened in May, a man was seen performing a stunt while standing on two moving SUVs on a Noida road.
