Rahul Gandhi on Sunday was seen riding a bullock cart in Rajasthan amid the Bharat Jodo Yatra in another photographic moment from the Kanyakumari to Kashmir foot march. The Congress leader was back from the oath event in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla – where Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was sworn as in as the hill state’s 15th Chief Minister and Mukesh Agnihotri his deputy – to lead the campaign in Rajasthan.
In a video tweeted by the official handle of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi was seen on the bullock cart along with supporters. A caption in Hindi – along with the post – read: “Savari apni desi hai, Andaz apna nirala hai (Our ride is desi, and our ways are unique)”. The ‘desi’ ride proceeded amid a huge crowd.
Through the course of his journey spanning over seven states, Rahul Gandhi has been seen breaking into dance, riding bicycles and motorbike as he soaks in the cultural vibe around. In another clip from Rajasthan recently, he was seen blowing kisses while passing a BJP office where the workers of the rival party were seen standing on a roof. The cheeky video was also shared by the Congress, taking a jibe at the rival party and national president JP Nadda whose poster was seen at the office.
Meanwhile, the Congress held a show on unity on Sunday in Himachal Pradesh where it secured 40 of 68 seats to make a comeback. Sukhu’s name was declared for the top job amid hectic deliberation as reports emerged of rifts between factions. Pratibha Singh, former chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s wife, was seen as another contender for the post apart from Mukesh Agnihotri.
This is the first that the hill state has a deputy chief minister.
