In a major step, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to give a government job to an eligible person from the dependents of a person killed in enemy action on the border. In this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme 2022 has been amended by amending SRA 43 for the dependents of government employees, for which a formal notification has also been issued.
The scheme will be applicable to the families of Government employees who are killed in militancy-related activities, along the Line of Control and in enemy operations along the international border, provided that they themselves are not involved in militancy-related activities. or dies in service before retirement or retiree.
The dependent family includes his/her spouse, children, daughters (including legally adopted sons and daughters), unmarried and non-government employed brothers and sisters who are wholly dependent on the deceased Government servant. The discretion to grant appointment is vested in the Administrative Secretary of the General Administrative Department (GAD) and subject to any exemption, the applicant shall be authorized to make any appointment under the Government Rules in Jammu and Kashmir through the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary. A graduate or higher qualification can also be considered for at least gazetted post.
If a person should set up a business unit under government-funded schemes instead of a government job, financial assistance will also be provided to him/her. The appointment of the applicant will be decided on the basis of merit points and in case of denial of the job he/she will also be entitled to a compensation of five lakh rupees. This job will be on a permanent basis for which he/she will have to apply within one year of the incident.
