Actor Gauahar Khan has shared a cryptic note on people getting offended if a husband cracks a joke on his wife, seemingly hinting at Ranbir Kapoor’s “phailoed” (spread) comment on his pregnant wife, Alia Bhatt. Taking to Twitter, Gauahar shared a post extending her support to husbands making ‘halka phulka mazaak (light jokes)’ with their wives.
On Twitter, Gauahar wrote, “Aaj kal log kuch zyaada hi sensitive ho gaye hain. Ab apni biwi se kuch halka phulka mazaak karne pe bhi paabandi hai, kya pata kaun kahaan pe offend ho jaaye. Take a chill pill yaar, take light, it will resolve a lot of the issues in the world.” Reacting to her tweet, a person commented, “We should make light on many things there are a lot of issues in the world, but specifically, you tweeted about Ranbir’s low-class humorous comments on weight! But wait not you are the same person who judges BB contestants based on camera? Same!”

Another comment read, “If husband, wife crack jokes at home… Nobody cares…. Public me aake (in public) making an absurd comment on a live session is called ‘publicity stunt’. Small mistakes make a huge blunder.” Another tweet read, “No Gauahar, please let’s be honest. Let’s agree on the fact that the joke wasn’t funny at all, rather was in a bad taste. Just because he’s your ex-colleague and you share a good rapport with him doesn’t mean you’ll keep defending anything.”
During an Instagram live interaction, Ranbir and Alia were asked why they were not actively promoting Brahmastra. Alia replied, “We will promote the film, and we will be everywhere but if the question you are asking is why we are not phailoed (spreading) everywhere, right now our focus is…” Interrupting her mid-sentence, Ranbir pointed to his wife’s baby bump saying, “Well I can say somebody has phailoed (referencing her weight gain).”
Later, after several people criticised Ranbir for his comment, he apologised. “Firstly, let me start with, I love my wife with everything that I have in my life. And what happened on that, I think it’s a joke that didn’t turn out to be funny. I really want to apologise if I have triggered anyone. It was not my intention. I want to say sorry to people who got offended or triggered,” news agency quoted Ranbir as saying.
He also added, “I spoke to Alia about it and she really laughed it off and she didn’t mind it. But I do have a bad sense of humour and sometimes it falls flat on my own face. So, I am sorry if I have hurt anyone about it.” Ranbir and Alia married in April this year in Mumbai. In June, Alia shared an Instagram post announcing her pregnancy.
