On December 19, 2016, Karun Nair became a household name when he became the second Indian to slam a triple ton in Test cricket. Back then, he had become the 26th batsman to register the 300-run mark. In addition, his strike-rate of 79.46 was the fourth-best by any batsman scoring in excess of the magical 300.
By the time he was back in the pavilion, his parents had been hogged by the media, phone calls kept him busy throughout the evening whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took some time out to applaud the right-hander’s heroics on Twitter.
While he somehow lost his Test spot after getting only four more appearances in the middle, Nair remains in the scheme of things and has kept himself relevant through the domestic circuit. (Note: He was the top run-getter in 2019 Duleep Trophy with 325 runs at an average of 125).
Despite the intense competition, Nair is not one to get bogged down. Recently, he shared various aspects of his batting while speaking to timesnownews.com‘s Aditya Sahay. During the chat, he also spoke at length on the two Rahuls — KL Rahul and Rahul Dravid, Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) biggest quality ahead of the much-awaited IPL 2020 and dogged few rapid-fire questions like a pro.
