The world of football went into a meltdown as the news of Cristiano Ronaldo being ‘offered to Barcelona’ was broken on Thursday by Spanish journalist Guillem Balagué. Fans couldn’t help but fascinate as to who good the pairing of the two most dominant players of the past 10-15 years would look like. The reality, however, seems to be quite different.
Juventus bought Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid two seasons ago in a £90 million deal. The Italian giants also made the Portuguese their top-earning player with a salary of £28 million per year. Though Ronaldo’s deal with the club runs till 2022, the club is reportedly unable to pay his hefty wages, and hence, are looking to sell him this summer.
While Ronaldo’s agent has been asked to find a new club for his client, the player was said to be offered to a number of teams across the world, including Real Madrid’s fierce rivals Barcelona in La Liga.
As per Ronaldo’s entourage, however, the talk of him joining Barcelona is mere speculation and the rumours are ‘completely false’.
