The BSE Sensex and the Nifty opened on a flat note on Tuesday in the absesce of sufficient global cues as US market were shut on Monday for a public holiday. Asian markets were mostly higher today. As of 9:25 am, the Sensex was up 11.25 points or 0.03% at 38,428.48 and the Nifty was up by 3.25 points at 11,357.20. Except for IT and pharma stocks most other shares were in the red today.
Among Nifty stocks, Cipla was the top gainer, up 0.82% followed by Reliance Industries and BPCL, which rose 0.77% and 0.71% respectively as compared to their previous closing price. TCS, Wipro, Infosys, UPL, Adani Ports, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma, Britannia were the other prominent gainers in the Nifty.
Bharti Infratel was the top loser in Nifty, down 3.51% as the stock witnessed profit booking after rallying over 15% in last one week. Tata Motors, Power Grid Corp, Nestle, NTPC, Zee Entertainment, Hindalco, HDFC Life, Titan Company, Bajaj Auto, Shree Cements, HDFC, Grasim, M7M, SBI were the other losers in the Nifty.
